There are different mobiles for different women and many choices for both. This should help simplify matters when it comes choosing a mobile for your gal.

Mobiles For Your Valentine

I’ve never been much for this “V-Day” day, honestly. Most of the time, it involves me having to spend my hard earned cash on someone other than myself. Then again, there are those times when it just feels right and the cost is suddenly not an option you consider. But buying the right gift for the right girl when you’re swamped with choice is often painful. Allow me, dear gentlemen readers to offer some solace in the mobile phone department.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

What you want to think about when buying your ‘gal’ a mobile is her personality; so what I’ve done is offer a few choices based on three of the most common categories – The ambitious ‘All-Business’ woman, the sweet ‘Girl Next Door’ and the glamorous ‘Diva’. Here are a couple of choices –

For that All-Business woman who knows what she wants and how to get it here’s what might just make her a little less ‘bossy’ if you know what I mean.

BlackBerry Flip 8220 - Rs. 21, 990

The Flip is a very stylish and well cut handset, which does have that certain feminine appeal in its clamshell form. Let’s not forget that RIM with its BlackBerry range has set a certain bar for the hardcore businessma… I mean business-person. It’s a comfortable-to-use business handset that also handles all the necessary business functions that a traditional BlackBerry employs.

Nokia E63 – Rs. 14, 250

The lower end edition to the E71 that’s been fairing brilliantly well in the market so far, the E63, is essentially the same with a couple of tweaks. It has a 2 megapixel camera and it comes in some pretty funky colors. The colors don’t really diminish the look and feel of the handset. The full QWERTY keypad and large display with all the support required for emailing and staying in touch with work and friends will definitely help your cause.

Both handsets employ hardcore business functionality with a touch of femininity, style and color to give off an essence of not just ‘work’ but a little ‘play’ thrown in.

For that sweet Girl-next-door you’re going to need something a little girly with a bit of a sporty feel and something comfortable to use. The handset should also provide enough in terms of multimedia and on the go entertainment. Sweet for the sweet I always say.
LG Cookie - Rs. 12, 500

The Cookie’s large touchscreen and simple look and feel combined with its light weight design makes it an ideal handset for a funky fun loving girl. It has multiple desktops that can be accessed by a swipe of her dainty little finger. One desktop will allow for quick access to all her friends with shortcuts to assigned contacts for messaging or calling. Make sure your number is included. It doesn’t matter which number you’re assigned, be it ‘first’ or ‘eighth’ as long as your shortcut is clearly and easily accessible directly from the desktop and not the widget box. The 3.2 megapixel camera and editing features will ensure that she has a lot of fun using the handset, and not just for calling if you get my drift (wink wink).

Nokia 7610 Supernova – Rs. 10,500

I can’t verify this for a fact or anything but Nokia’s Supernova range of handsets is quite assuredly for the ladies segment. The reflective display surface was quite likely designed to be a mirror and the overall look and color combinations of the handsets will confirm this. The 7610 slider with its 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera, media and FM player as well as its TV out capability gives a multimedia categorization in a sleek and somewhat sexy yet outdoorsy form factor.

For that always ‘out-on-the-town’ Diva you’ll want to get that handset that that exudes glamor and style and also has a certain ‘bling’ value. It should say – Who cares what my phone can do, it looks good on me.

LG KF510 – Rs. 10, 500

The very jazzy touch sensitive navigation system on the KF510 is what has earned the handset a place in this category. With an extremely slim shimmery design and smooth slider, the handset is great as a style statement. Aside from the obvious bling value that the handset very clearly sports in design and interface, it’s also quite feature rich with a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with image stabilizer for those moments, Stereo Bluetooth, microSD card support and media capabilities that include audio and video playback as well as an FM radio.
Motorola U9 PEBL – Rs. 10, 000

The PEBL is a stylish clamshell that may not have a slim form but it is nevertheless a sleek looking handset. The external OLED color display will intimate her of any incoming calls that she doesn’t need to answer and messages that come in. The touch sensitive music keys on the same display will allow her to play her music without having to open the handset at all. The handset also has a 2 megapixel camera for her to use to capture those wild party images with her friends (hopefully you’ll be in most of them) and A2DP support will keep her wire-free for her music. Maybe you won’t have to buy her a headset. I said maybe.

There you have it. Those are a few choices amongst plenty that should help you have a better Valentine’s day, hopefully. Just don’t get the wrong phone for the wrong girl, the effects could be quite disastrous. Hey you never know.
