The booming e-commerce industry has opened doors to a wide range of job opportunities, especially for mobile developers in India. A new report dubbed India Mobile Talent 2016 released along with Belong, a data-driven talent acquisition platform, has revealed some interesting insights about mobile developers in e-commerce space across the nation. The India Mobile Talent 2016 Report has taken under consideration key aspects such as total talent pool size, talent spread by platforms, sectors attracting the most talent, and cities that have emerged as leading hubs. Firstly, the report points out how these developers enjoy twice the salary and other monetary benefits compared to their counterparts in the IT Services and Software companies. And, Bengaluru is said to be India’s most popular destination, hosting 25 percent of the total talent pool, followed by Delhi NCR at 17 percent and Hyderabad at 10 percent, making South India the leading hub for mobile talent. Bangalore and NCR contribute the lion’s share of the country’s mobile developer talent, according to the report. And, companies like Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal and Zomato are among the top employers of mobile talent in these cities. “The rise of India’s mobile economy has led to a dramatic increase in the demand for mobile talent. As businesses race to capitalize on the opportunities of this new economy, it has led to an intense competition for skilled Android and iOS developers. The truth, however, is that the mobile talent pool in India is still in its very early stages. To help companies better understand the dynamics of this pool and craft effective hiring strategies, we are launching the India Mobile Talent Landscape 2016 Report,” says Vijay Sharma, Co-founder & CEO of Belong. It also points out how iOS mobile talent is making inroads in the otherwise Android dominated market. The report also highlights how Android developers dominate the mobile talent talent pool at 72 percent. Moreover, it is worth noting that the regional universities bring majority of the mobile talent with universities such as Visvesvaraya Technological University, Anna University, University of Pune, and not the IITs. Github and Stackoverflow are said to be among the top niche networks to find mobile developers. Sharma further adds, “Mobile developers are active participants in specialized communities like GitHub and Stack Overflow where they learn from peers, collaborate on projects, and demonstrate skills. Additionally, over 30% of India’s mobile talent pool can be discovered on Klout and 47% of them maintain at least 3 Social Profiles, giving companies a really strong reason to actively tap into these communities.”
