Instead of buying the Mission: Impossible 3 DVD and then converting it to play on your mobile phone, you can think about upgrading to the Nokia N93, which will come bundled with a 512MB memory card containing the whole movie to coincide with the DVD release. The movie is free—no additional cost other than the phone!
The N93 has a 2.4" QVGA (320x240) display, which makes for a decent device to play a full length movie on. It also has a TV-out feature, so you can actually watch the movie on your big screen, but it obviously won't be as good as DVD or even XviD. The copy of Mission: Impossible 3 will be a 25fps mobile with stereo audio. Maybe future versions of the phones will have 5.1-channel audio (like the recently announced Samsung FX), so you can expect surround sound in the mobile movies as well!
The movie will come with copy protection so it won't be possible to copy it to another memory card. It also will not be playable on the PC. You can, however, make a backup of the movie on the PC.
The Mission: Impossible 3 DVD comes out on October 30th, 2006, so hold on to your N93 purchase till then.
