Mid-range Nokia Lumia 636 and Lumia 638 with TD-LTE announced for China

Microsoft has taken the wraps off its first TD-LTE-enabled smartphones in China namely, the Nokia Lumia 636 and Lumia 638. The Lumia 636 is priced at CNY 1,300  that translates to approximately Rs 12,400, and the Lumia 638 is lightly lower at CNY 1,200 that accounts to Rs 11,400. Both are more or less like the Lumia 630, recently launched in India. See **our review of the first Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone.**   Presently being showcased at the Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai, the Lumia 636 will be available via China Unicom network carrier from July 5 while the Lumia 638 through China Mobile from June 21.   The Lumia 636 and Lumia 638 come equipped with 1GB of RAM instead of the Lumia 630’s 512MB. Both devices sport a 4.5-inch FWVGA ClearBlack display with 480x854 pixels of resolution, with a pixel density of 221 ppi. It also gets a layer of the Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor. It gets 8GB onboard storage and 5 megapixel rear camera, but the front-facing camera has been given a miss. There is no word on support for microSD card yet.   The devices run Windows Phone 8.1 and will also get free navigation from HERE Maps and free Nokia MixRadio music streaming. All of this will be fuelled by an 1830mAh battery.   The Lumia devices will come dipped in matte black, white, orange and yellow colours. You can also expect a range of colourful accessories for these phones.   No word yet on an India launch, but given the imminent launch of nationwide 4G this year, we are expecting these devices to come to India sooner rather than later.
