Microsoft's Windows 10 phones will finally support fingerprint scanner

Unlike high-end smartphones from other manufacturers, Microsoft’s premium devices do not come with fingerprint scanner, but feature iris recognition with Windows Hello. Now, the company wants to keep up pace with others and plans to bring support for the authentication feature in an upcoming update. At the WinHEC conference, Microsoft has announced to bring support for fingerprint scanner in the Anniversary Update coming this summer, reports Engadget. So far, the upcoming Elite X3 is the only phone that is expected to arrive with fingerprint scanner, which also doubles as a laptop. “Of course, that software feature will need hardware to support it. HP’s Elite X3 a phone that doubles as a laptop, has a fingerprint scanner but we’ll have to wait and see if other device makers adopt the Windows Hello tool. Microsoft says while some OEMs have experience with fingerprint components from FPC and Synaptics, using scanners from other companies may take a bit more effort to work alongside Windows 10,” the report points out. Windows Hello was announced as a part of Windows 10 last year. Now, the login using  your face worked really well for laptops and PCs, but many believe that unlocking using fingerprints is more suitable for mobile devices.
