There were announcements galore at Microsoft’s annual Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) yesterday in Houston, Texas.
At the event, in addition to giving a demo of the features on Windows 8.1, the company announced that itsUS-only Office and SharePoint Store has now been expanded to support 22 new markets with localised store fronts and French, German, Japanese language apps. While the company did not list out the names of these markets in its official announcement, guys at Neowin got in touch with the company to get the details. As per the website, the new markets include Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Japan, Spain, Mexico and Argentina. (Note: Since some of these aforementioned countries support multiple languages, Microsoft has listed it as “22 markets”.)
Now in India, among other markets
Those using the new Office can access the Office and SharePoint Store. It can be accessed directly within Office apps and at Office.com.
“Not only are we are making it easier for Office users to find apps that make them more productive, we are also providing a platform for developers who may have never developed for the Microsoft platform before. The new development model makes it easier than ever for developers to build, run and maintain apps,” says Dene Cleaver, Sr. Product Marketing Manager, Microsoft Office Division.
Through the Office and SharePoint Store, it is possible for those building productivity apps and other apps to distribute them globally or within selected markets. Developers can offer free, trial and paid versions of their apps to reach new users, customers and segments.
