Microsoft's free OneDrive storage to reduce from 15GB to 5GB starting 27 July

Microsoft’s OneDrive users are currently being intimated by an email explaining how their 15GB of free storage is soon going to be reduced to just 5GB. The email explains that the software giant will no longer offer the 15GB camera roll bonus activation storage that it began offering since last year. Indeed, not a lot of Windows 10 Mobile or Windows Phone users would be happy about this. The reduction in storage means that users will have to move the excess 10GB of data (if used) elsewhere or offline before the due date. As a preventive measure, those activating a new account will also notice the same. Microsoft now allots just 5GB of storage for free. So those who really need that more than 5GB of space will now have to pay up for the same. The email writes, “We want to let you know about some upcoming changes to OneDrive. On 27/07/2016, the amount of storage that comes with OneDrive will change from 15GB to 5GB. We are also discontinuing the 15GB camera roll bonus,”. However, the move to cut down storage does not come with out explanation, “we realise these are big changes to a service you rely on. We want to apologise for any inconvenience that they may cause you. We’ve made a difficult decision, but it’s one that will let us sustainably operate OneDrive into the future.”. Just in November last year Microsoft announced that it would kill its unlimited OneDrive storage plan and even reduce the 15GB of free storage to 5GB. Following the backlash Microsoft decided to continue the free OneDrive usage by offering a 15GB camera roll bonus.
