Microsoft's Bringing Windows 8 with an App Store

Windows 8 screenshots are out and they seem to show a reason we’re going to have another lawsuit soon. Windows 8 seems to come with a built in App Store. The lawsuit’s most likely going to be between them and the on going suit with Apple and Amazon over the words “App Store”. Microsoft’s already hired a liguist to protest Apple’s trademark application for the name ‘App Store’.

Laid out like Apple’s Mac App Store

Screenshots show a layout very similar to Apple’s Mac App Store, without the Apple ’touch’ of course. And in the screenshot, you’ll see the obligatory Angry Birds logo, which was actually controversial when Microsoft was advertising the Windows Phone 7 apps. The obvious question is will the Windows 8 App Store be as successful as the Mac App Store. The Mac App Store did offer a convenient method of obtaining software in the form of apps and potentially Windows could do the same.

Paddy does not, we repeat, definitely does NOT belong in the category of Mac-head (yeh right!). She does get excited by her iPhone and her iMac and her iPod Nano and her Macbook and Bali's iPad and her future iHouse (patent pending). Ok, so maybe her head is a little bit forbidden fruit shaped. She likes shooting video (iPhone 4 camera zindabad!) and editing montages (Final Cut Pro zindabad!), whether the scene calls for it or no. In her spare time, she's either kicking it on stage with KB the keyboard or kicking butt at Taekwondo. see more
