Microsoft is hosting the Windows Phone Challenge here in India; the challenge has already kicked off since June 1 and will last all the way till the end of the month. According to the Microsoft website, the contest is currently slated to be held in six cities – Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. While the challenge has kicked off in malls across Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad, the Coimbatore leg of it will take place on the June 22. Delhi and Mumbai schedules are yet to be announced by the company.

Windows is also promoting the challenge on Twitter using the hashtag #MyNextPhone . The Windows Phone Challenge is being held in malls across the six cities and the company says that it is also giving away merchandise, discounts and freebies to participants of the challenge.

These challenges seem to be modeled upon the Smoked by Windows Phone or Meet Your Match series of challenges that went viral last year. Those familiar with the concept will remember that the challenges involved making a smartphone and a Windows Phone perform the same action – some even time bound – to judge the winning smartphone. The only difference here is that while winning challengers abroad would be given a brand new Windows Phone device, you will have to make do with Rs 1,000 or freebies.
