Microsoft just updated Office Applications on Android with easier sharing and collaboration features. Word, Excel and Powerpoint got updates, for both the mobile and tablet versions. All three apps now have the ability to add contacts via email addresses, and invite them to collaborate on the document. The changes can be tracked in real time, and users can see who are editing a document.
Additionally, while sharing, there is an option to check a "can edit" control. This allows shared documents to be either viewed or edited by the contact it is shared with. There is a field to include an optional message while sharing. The files can also be shared as an attachment to an email through the same menu. If the share as attachment route is selected, then there are options for multiple file formats for the attachment, depending on the application.
There is now a Shared with Me menu that displays a list of documents others have shared with you. There is an improved copy paste feature, that allows users to easily copy paste text and content between office applications. Images, charts and text are processed to look visually appealing when copied from one app and pasted into another.
The Powerpoint Application has a fresh new look, and there are some UI tweaks. Users can now drag and drop to reorder slides, and double tap on a single slide to edit it. There is a find feature added to Powerpoint that allows users to find particular text in any slide.
