Microsoft is due to launch the new Windows 8 OS on 26 October but there’s another launch related to the Redmond-based software giant that is generating a lot of buzz. This one is about whether Office 2013 will be available for Android and iOS users, with reports indicating that the apps could be launched in March 2013.
According to tech website, The Verge, Microsoft Office’s product manager Petr Bobek has confirmed that Office 2013 for Android and iOS will be be launched in the first quarter of 2013.The Verge was quoting a press release from Microsoft’s Czech Republic team. You can check out the original report from Czech website, Ihned here.
However Microsoft spokesman Frank X Shaw has come out and said on Twitter that the information shared by Microsoft’s Czech subsidiary was wrong. You can see his Twitter below.

The Verge report also states that
“In addition to Windows, Office will be also available on other operating systems, Windows Phone, Windows RT, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Symbian,” says Microsoft, while separately noting that there will also be a new version of Office Web Apps too.
So it seems that Windows 8 is definitely going to have the Office 2013 app, but when Android and iOS will get the app is anybody’s guess.
An Office 2013 app for Android and iOS users will probably be a god-send, especially for those who aren’t too comfortable with Google Docs or other word editors. Hopefully Microsoft won’t keep customers waiting for this one too long.
