Microsoft’s new Surface Pro tablet which will be released on 9 February suffers from a space issue.
According to CNET, Microsoft said in a statement that, “The 128 GB version of Surface Pro has 83 GB of free storage out of the box. The 64 GB version of Surface Pro has 23 GB of free storage out of the box.”
This is mostly because the software is going take up the rest of the space. The 64 GB and 128 GB versions of the tablet, run the complete Windows 8 Pro OS and not the Windows RT version like the regular version of Surface.
As far as space is concerned, 23 GB space sounds like it is very little, especially when users are paying over $899 for the 64 GB tablet and $1299 for the 128 GB version. Technically Microsoft’s software is taking up a massive 45 GB space on the 128 GB Surface tablet, and over 41 GB space on the 64 GB version of the tablet.

Microsoft tried to pacify the whole space issue by stating tha_t “Surface Pro has a USB 3.0 port for connectivity with almost limitless storage options, including external hard drives and USB flash drives. Surface also comes preloaded with SkyDrive, allowing you to store up to 7GB of content in the cloud for free.”_
The Surface Pro version comes with a 3rd Gen Intel Core i5 Processor with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and 4GB RAM. It has a 10.6 inch screen (26.9 centimeters)(diagonal) with ClearType HD Display. It also has a slot of microSDXC, USB 3.0, a Mini DisplayPort Video connection, 22 MIMO antennae (for wireless communications).
Point to note is that Apple just launched the 128 GB iPad which no doubt is Apple’s response to Surface Pro. And yes, you get all 128 GB.
