Gold seems to be the favoured color for handset makers now. Microsoft has announced two new special editions of its Lumia 830 and 930 smartphones, which will reportedly sport an ‘anodized gold’ finish. These special gold edition phones will continue to have the same specifications. “The Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 smartphones get a high-end refresh with an anodized gold color. Starting soon, these two phones will be available in black or white with a premium gold finish,” Microsoft said in a blog post. After Apple started this trend, many companies have been seen adopting it for their smartphones and tablets. The Verge pointed out that although Microsoft is late to the gold trend, it’s pulled off an impressive trick by giving both devices a lustrous makeover that doesn’t look tacky. In fact, the gold trim on both devices looks stylish, especially set against the glossy black and white backs. Microsoft plans to release these phones in selected countries such as Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa and China. The handsets will not be available in the US and there was no information provided whether it would be up for grabs in India. Microsoft Lumia 930 will be available in black starting this week and in white towards the end of January. The Microsoft Lumia 830 will be available in both colors from February itself. The company hasn’t provided any details about their price.
