Microsoft is re-branding its current Xbox Music service to ‘Groove’ and will roll it out to Windows 10 PC owners beginning July 29. Also, the company announced that the Xbox Video app will now be known as ‘Movies & TV.’
According to a report by Windows Central , the branding behind Xbox Music has been speculated as, shifting with Windows 10 due to downplaying of its name and other clues such as ‘Microsoft Music’ being referenced. Groove will be the same as Xbox Music but the company has plans to update it regularly in the next few months. The blog post stated that the new naming is meant to be ‘more identifiable to our broad customer base’.
Alongside with Groove, Xbox Video is being called Movies & TV, which will offer access to download TV and movies. Users can also buy movies and TV shows, which will also be available on all Windows 10 devices and Xbox consoles as well. According to the blog post, Microsoft stated that, “Windows Insiders who are a part of the Fast ring and upgrade to the next PC build will see these updates in the Store beta first. For anyone else, you’ll get to enjoy these updates with Windows 10 starting on July 29."
According to a previous report , Microsoft is going all out to ensure that a billion device run Windows 10 – its latest operating system. With a little over three weeks to go before Microsoft Windows 10 is available to consumers, Microsoft Executive Vice President of Operating Systems, Terry Myerson, said on the Windows blog , “We’ve been really pleased with the strong response to Windows 10 since we kicked off reservations in early June, with millions of reservations. We want to make sure all of you have a great upgrade experience, so we’ll roll-out Windows 10 in phases to help manage the demand.”
