Microsoft is now planning to announce apps and add-ins for the new Outlook.com. At its Build 2015 developers conference, Outlook.com apps will be a part of the many announcements to come.

listing for the session on Outlook.com apps says, “Yes, you read that right – in under 5 minutes, you can build one app, list it in one store and have it appear in Outlook.com, Outlook desktop and Office 365.” It adds, “We’ve got many exciting updates since Build 2014 – from apps platform coming to Outlook.com, to simple development tools, to apps now able to place buttons among native Outlook actions. Learn about new capabilities, new UI entry points and best practices for building beautiful and powerful integrations via Apps for Outlook.”

This would be the first time Microsoft is planning to bring adds-ins and apps to users who access Outlook.com. They are already available for Office 365 version of Outlook. A report by The Verge points out, according to the listing, it appears that developers will create a single application that would run on Outlook for desktop, Office 365, and Outlook.com. All this could also be published under a single store.  

This would lead to a more more consumer-friendly apps and services to Outlook.com.
