Microsoft Philanthropies, created a year ago, on Thursday said it has contributed a total of over $10 million towards community development in India last year. This contribution includes both cash and technology investments to transform the way non-profit organisations deliver impact in India, offer educational opportunities to newcomers, and extend support during humanitarian crises.
Microsoft Philanthropies was created to bring the benefits of technology to people in need. "As India moves on the path of becoming a digitally empowered society, at Microsoft we believe technology is a powerful force for improving people's lives and solving India's key challenges," Microsoft India Associate General Counsel Madhu Khatri said in a statement.
"Cloud computing has emerged as a vital resource for addressing the world's problems, helping fuel breakthroughs across the full-range of economic and social challenges. These technologies will help serve the mission of Microsoft Philanthropies to drive digital inclusion and empowerment in India and across the world," Kahtri added.
This comes days after the company announced that the Creator’s Update for Windows 10 is arriving on 11 April. The major update was first announced in October last year and will come free for all owners of Windows 10.
