Microsoft Office 2007 Talks in Aussie Slang

Microsoft’s Office 2007 will now allow users to communicate in Australian slang, such as ‘G’day’, ‘sheila’, ‘bogan’ and ‘dag’. Office 2007 will now have 20 Aussie words, after an online poll conducted on Microsoft’s website showed that they were used by a majority of users and wanted the words on the Vole Oz dictionary.

Aussies particularly wanted words like, ‘sickie’, ‘ute’, ’trackies’ and ‘jackaroo’ unchallenged by Office, which usually underlined these commonly used words, as spelling mistakes. However, representatives of Vole Oz said that that including colloquial terms in the Office 2007 dictionary won’t turn kids into slang lovers because Office will clearly demarcate informal and formal use of language, in the program.
