Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft, Chris Capossela in an interview last week made cleared the air by stating that the company is in indeed working on a Surface Phone to complete its Windows 10 ecosystem of devices. The device that Capossela was referring to will be powered by Windows 10 Mobile, but will unfortunately take a bit of effort and time to build. Chris Capossela’s interview sheds light on the long-rumoured Microsoft Surface Phone that is supposed to be a “breakthrough” device and the “spiritual successor” of the Surface lineup. In the same interview, he did ask fans to have some patience as the company needs some more time to build it. As far as the rumours go, the smartphone is expected to pack in an Intel chipset, which is a jump from the Qualcomm lineup that Microsoft has stuck with for smartphones right from the very beginning. Clearly, the Intel chipset is expected to work better with Windows 10’s Continuum feature , one that is the highlight of Microsoft’s current flagship lineup which consists of the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL. The Surface Phone has been in the rumour mill for a bit too long now. Long enough for consumers to be losing interest in Windows Phone and long enough to see Microsoft’s Windows Phone smartphone market share dwindle to single digits. This could indeed be Microsoft’s best bet at building a Windows 10 Mobile device that could be a true flagship after the Lumia 950 and 950 XL failed to garner any attention. Both the flagships were recently launched in India at a price tag of Rs 43,699 and Rs 49,399 respectively and currently retail on Amazon.in.
