On launch, the Xbox One will only be available in one colour—black. However, a white-coloured version of the console seems to be in the works. The sad news is, this white version will only be for Microsoft’s employees. The information was revealed in a Reddit thread by Microsoft’s Larry Hryb, who is better known on the Internet as Major Nelson.
During the AMA, Hryb was asked by user KillerBYTE whether the all-white Xbox One will be made available to the public, to which Hryb replied, “maybe waaaay in the future.”
Hryb later revealed to Polygon that the statement was meant as “a joking ‘maybe.’” The company doesn’t seem to have any plans of releasing the white Xbox One for some time now, and there is no information about when it might.
The White Xbox One is part of a special edition
Recently, Microsoft had revealed the line-up of games that will be available for the Xbox One at launch . There seems to be a wide variety of games from almost every genre, from hardcore FPSes like Battlefield 4 to fighting games like Killer Instinct to casual Kinect-centric titles such as Just Dance 2014. There are even some family-friendly casual titles thrown in, such as Skylanders: Swap Force and Peggle 2.
Earlier, it was revealed that the Xbox One won’t be region-locked . This essentially means that games will run on the Xbox One, regardless of whether the console and the games were bought from different countries.
The Xbox One will be hitting stores in select countries in October. India will get the console some time in 2014.
