In an effort to move towards unified communication technology Microsoft Corp. and Nortel Networks Corp. have decided to form a partnership and in keeping this with last week announced a broad agreement to develop and market new products. The new partners have said that their Innovative Communications Alliance should begin releasing products next year as part of a road map laid out by Microsoft in June. While Microsoft has been quoted in the past saying that it would team up with vendors such as Hewlett-Packard, Motorola and Siemens AG on unified communications; it has worked out a more expansive set of plans, including the eventual development by Nortel of a full suite of networking hardware and software that can work with Office.
