Micromax is upping the ante in the low cost tablet/phone market with the launch of a sub Rs 10,000 ‘phablet’. The device which is being called a ’talk tablet’ is a part of the companies popular Funbook series.
The 7-inch touch screen device is a whole 2 inches larger than Samsung’s celebrated Galaxy Note II, which makes it more a tablet with phone capabilities rather than a phone that doubles up as a tablet. (A ’tone’ as opposed to a ‘phablet’ then?)
And unlike the Note, it only supports 2G calling capabilities. But its tech specs are pretty decent to say the least. The ‘Talk tablet’ operates on Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich, has a capacitive touch screen of 800x480 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM. In terms of storage it contains 4GB internal space, which is however expandable to 32GB>
The tablet also has a VGA front camera and comes with a 2800mAh battery claiming up to 5 hours of talk time.
