Micromax has sent out invites for the launch event of an unnamed smartphone on 22 August. The invite does not mention the name of the phone as such, but online speculations point to the name being Canvas Infinity.
The invitation by Micromax shows the picture of the display of the phone with a landscape in the background. The invite reads “Let’s put a number to infinity” with the date 22 August below the text.
According to online speculations, there could be three devices launched in the Canvas Infinity series each sporting the wide 18:9 aspect ratio for the display. There were leaks earlier which hinted at a 5.7-inch display phone to be released by Micromax.
This kind of display is currently seen on high-end devices such as LG G6 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. LG first launched this kind of display with its FullVision display technology. This was soon followed by its Korean rival Samsung when the Galaxy S8 / S8+ were unveiled. If Micromax brings out this series with the 18:9 display, then it will become the first Indian brand to having done so.
Micromax also recently announced a new phone in its Evok series. The device as teased by the company on its official Twitter handle is Evok Dual Note. The company tweeted a short video with a hashtag #EvokDualNote on the account. The Dual in the tag is speculated to be a dual camera setup on the phone.
