After a really crisp teaser that left you hankering for more, Micromax has unleashed a 30-second TV spot for the Canvas Turbo, starring Hugh Jackman. Shedding his Wolverine avatar, Jackman steps into the shoes of a juggler as he explains that the Canvas Turbo helps him juggle through multiple sides of his life.
The ad may seem slightly off the mark to a lot of people and is clearly divided into two bits. The first one is where a young Jackman wanders into a circus and gets enamoured by a juggler’s tricks. Weirdly enough, Jackman says that the juggler is his hero.
Jackman says that years later, he’s now the juggler who manages many faces and aspects of his life – friends, work, et al. In fact, the Canvas Turbo’s tagline too is “Can Juggle Many Lives”. The ad is a bit of a let-down as it fails to build up on the hype of having Hugh Jackman in the advertisement. While the focus could have been a lot more on the phone’s functions, elements like the kid’s voice could be replaced by Jackman’s himself for more emphasis. Hopefully, there will be a few more ads in the series with the Wolverine star, where we will be able to see a lot more of him.
Micromax announced its association with Jackman earlier this month, who said he was excited to be associated with the company and India, owing to his love for the place as well as Cricket. A teaser ad too was released that set quite a few hearts aflutter with Jackman’s presence in it. The phone itself was launched last week for Rs 19,990.
