Looks like Micromax is getting on the Android KitKat bandwagon with an all-out attack on the entry-level segment. It launched the Canvas Unite 2 last week, which just might steal the Moto E’s thunder. And now it has topped that phone with another KitKat-running budget wonder. The Micromax Canvas Engage (A091) has been spotted online with a price tag of Rs 6,199. It is not yet on the company’s site, so this could be an early release, but there’s no word on the official launch. The Canvas Engage is likely the most affordable KitKat smartphone, given its price. The eBay listing doesn’t show us a clear picture of the phone; it looks to have rounded corners, but that’s the only thing we can see apart from the capacitive buttons. There’s a 4-inch IPS WVGA display, which is lower resolution than the Moto E’s qHD screen. What makes this cheaper than the Moto E and the Unite 2 is the 512MB of RAM, which is half the amount as the other two. It gets an unspecified quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, which is most likely a MediaTek chipset. Other specs are typical entry-level fare: A 5-megapixel rear camera (no flash), a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera and 4GB of internal storage with microSD card slot. It supports Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE and 3G for internet and cellular connectivity options, with Bluetooth and GPS/A-GPS also thrown in. As is usual in this category, it’s a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) phone with dual standby support. This one has a rather small 1500mAh battery, which is supposed to be good for 5.5 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time on 2G network.
