Game publisher Deep Silver has announced the first DLC that will be making its way to the highly atmospheric post-apocalyptic FPS Metro: Last Light. The DLC, dubbed the Faction Pack, will be available on PC and Xbox Live on July 16. North American PlayStation 3 gamers will also get it that same day, but the rest of the world will have to wait till July 17 for it.

The Faction Pack includes three original single-player missions, each casting the player as a different specialist from the warring Factions. Returning to some classic locations from Metro 2033, these missions feature new weapons and the return of a terrifying mutant foe. Players will get to play a special Detachment Sniper of the Redline, a Reich Heavy and a Polis Ranger in training. Each of these characters will have their own varied level designs and mechanics.

As the Sniper, players must infiltrate a heavily guarded Reich outpost at night under the cover of a deadly radioactive storm. The Heavy will be armed with some of the most devastating munitions found in the game. Ranger in training is tasked with exploring the Library complex for artifacts and relics. Salvage can be exchanged for ammunition, mask filters and hazard suits, which will allow deeper exploration into the complex.

Now getting DLC

The Faction Pack will cost just $4.99/400 Microsoft Points (Rs 298 approx) and is the first of four DLCs that will be included in the Metro: Last Light Season Pass. The Season Pass costs $14.99/1,200 Microsoft Points (Rs 896 approx) and also includes an additional exclusive weapon—the Abzats.

The next DLCs that will be making its way to the game are the Tower Pack, the Developer Pack and the Chronicles Pack. The Tower Pack will have a challenge-based game mode with an online leaderboard. It involves players fighting their way up a combat simulator known as the Tower.

The Developer Pack has a shooting gallery, the AI Arena and the Metro Museum, along with a bonus solo mission dubbed the Spiders’ Nest. It offers new tools for dealing with an infestation of spider mutants.

The last DLC will be the Chronicles Pack, which has original single-player missions that cast the player as three of the game’s fan-favourite characters—Pavel, Khan and Anna—as they explore events that are completely different from protagonist Artyom’s adventures.

Metro: Last Light is currently available on Steam for $49.99 (Rs 2,900 approx). If you want to know if the game is any good, check out our review.
