Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance to get three DLCs

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has just come out, but it doesn’t seem like Platinum Games is going to rest for long. The company has announced three new DLCs for the game, one of which will have players stepping into the shoes of the Vamp-lookalike Jetstream Sam. The second is a set of VR Missions, similar to the ones Konami included with the original Metal Gear Solid. The third DLC will let you play as the LQ-84i robot dog.

The VR mission DLC will add 30 missions with a series of objectives to the VR Missions component of the game. It will feature different missions, including one where you control the three-armed Dwarf Gekko. Like the other VR Missions, these are set to take place in levels with simplistic colour and geometry comprised almost entirely of right-angles.

The other DLC, where you play Jetstream Sam, looks like it’ll feature some epic moments. It’s difficult to judge whether his missions will also be set in VR, though, as the screenshots don’t show any of the simplistic colour and geometry design that defines the VR missions. There also seems to be a fight against a Metal Gear RAY.

Not much information has been revealed about the third DLC except the fact that it exists. Like the Jetstream Sam DLC, it is currently unknown whether the missions in the LQ-84i DLC will take place in a story or will simply be delegated to some levels in VR Missions.

The VR Mission DLC is set to come out in Japan by April, and presumably in the next month or so in the rest of the world. It is set to cost ¥300, which roughly translates to Rs 175.

Konami released a CG trailer for Metal Gear Rising earlier this month. The trailer uses cutscenes from throughout the game to give an idea about the storyline. It features Raiden’s conversation with different bosses from the game and gives hints about Raiden’s transformation from an idealistic soldier to a complete monster who loves killing.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is set in the near future, where cyborg technology has become commonplace throughout society. Three years have passed since the collapse of the Patriots system, which has been secretly controlling the global power balance from the shadows. However, peace remains elusive. The dissemination of cybernetic technology has triggered instability and conflict as those who control the trade gain power.

Furthermore, large “Private Military Companies”, or PMCs, which had been supported and controlled by the Patriots, have collapsed, spawning countless rogue entities with origins to larger criminal organisations. These renegade PMCs employ cyborg technology and have become increasingly disruptive, shifting policy and power at will. As a member of the peace-keeping PMC “Maverick Security”, Raiden lives by the mantra of protecting and saving lives. But as the world plunges further into asymmetric warfare, the only path that leads him forward is rooted in resolving his past and carving through anything that stands in his way.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
