It’s hard to keep track of the number of iPhone clones in the market and the Meizu Pro 6 just joins those ranks. It’ll be hard to dismiss this device as just another iPhone clone however, as the updates to the hardware and software might just be enough to give the iPhone a run for its money. The phone, announced at Beijing, aims to offer the best camera, processor and charging experience at an affordable price. Oh, and you get Meizu’s version of 3D Touch as well. The body is a unibody aluminium affair and claims to use 48% less plastic than the iPhone, reports The Verge. The report also points out, and rightly so, that the antenna lines are more toned down as compared to the current iPhones. The phone is powered by MediaTek’s flagship Helios X25 chip (a 10-core chip) which Meizu claims is the fastest in the market. The CPU is paired with 4GB of RAM and comes in 32GB or 64GB internal storage variants. The camera is also interesting as Meizu packs in a 21MP Sony IMX 230 sensor with phase detection autofocus (which they claim takes only 0.07 seconds to focus). The hardware has also been redesigned to ensure that the camera module is slimmer. The camera is paired with a laser unit to assist in focussing (now rated to 2 metres) and a 10-LED ring flash unit that encircles the laser unit. The battery is a 2560mAh unit with mCharge 3.0 support—zero to full in under an hour, claims Meizu. A USB tpye-C port is provided for charging and data transfer and Meizu claims that they’ve incorporated short-circuit and thermal protection mechanisms to protect your device from overheating and any other sort of electrical damage via the port. The fingerprint scanner is also new and is claimed to unlock the phone in 0.2 seconds when used. Also incorporated is a Cirrus Logic CS43L36 chip, which will apparently offer exceptional audio quality. Moving on to the screen, you get a 1080p, 5.2-inch super AMOLED display with 3D Touch, or, as Meizu puts it, 3D Press. TheVerge reports that the 3D Press unit apes Apple in both functionality and design. The 32GB and 64GB models are set to retail at ¥2,499 (around Rs 26,000) and ¥2,799 (around Rs 28,000) respectively and that devices will be available in black, silver and gold.
