There is definitely no dearth of mobile browsers and here’s one more. This time CyanogenMod has unveiled its new open source project called Gello, a Chromium based browser for Android. The company has released a teaser video giving a glimpse of its new project.
If you’ve been using the Chrome browser on your Android device, what you see in the video may look familiar. Obviously, CyanogenMod is using Chromium and adding its own features and services. AndroidPolice has pointed out some interesting features like ‘save for offline’ reading mode, customised interface with tab animations and management, Night mode, immersive mode options, extensive site-by-site privacy and security settings and download settings that allow you to rename files and select file paths. “The Gello browser would be aimed at those who prefer AOSP instead of Google’s Android although it’s possible – likely even – that it could be installed directly on traditional Android devices,” states ZDNet. Gello isn’t immediately available for users and there is no expected date of release.
