As smartphones are getting more resource hogging, chipset makers are trying their best to make processors more powerful yet more efficient. Qualcomm recently announced
its new upcoming processor for smartphones called the Snapdragon 835 which will be an upgrade to the 820/821 chipsets. Compared to the previous generations the new chipsets will be using the 10nm process but at the same time be a lot more powerful and efficient. MediaTek also announced that their new Helio X30/X35 mobile processors will be made using the same 10nm manufacturing process. While these are high-end chips and will be seen on flagship devices, a leak has confirmed that MediaTek will be taking the new manufacturing process to its P range of processors. If you remember the Helio P10 and the more recent P20 were seen on budget devices ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 30,000. The next generation of budget mobile processor from the company which is rumoured to be the Helio P35 (P30 could be skipped altogether) will be a 10nm chip. Image: Weibo[/caption] A post on Weibo reveals
a chart that compares the specs of the Helio X30 with Helio P35 and Snapdragon 835. If this turns out to be true then the Helio P35 and Helio X30 will have the same 10 core architecture (2 x Cortex A73 + 4 x Cortex A53 + 4 X Cortex A35), but with a different clock speeds. The GPU will also be different wherein the P35 could feature a Mali-G71 MP3 instead of and a PowerVR graphics on the X30. Other features include dual channel LPDDR4x memory, 1080p display resolution support as well as UFS 2.1 storage support. The Helio P35 is expected to debut in Q3 of 2017 and will be popular on devices ranging between $150-$300 (Rs 10,000 - Rs 20,000).
