There is no doubt that VR is the way forward, and McDonald’s has started doing its bit to introduce the new technology to children. Instead of plastic toys, the company will be selling 3500 units of the Happy Meal boxes that can transform into VR headsets. McDonald’s is calling them Happy Goggles. McDonald’s Sweden has launched the campaign that will run between March 5 - March 12 weekends. Needless to say, it has also developed a game related to skiing for kids to go along with the goggles. The game teaches about ski safety. For now, VR headset meal box is announced only for Sweden, and there is no word on it coming to other regions. The company has released a video explaining how to turn the box into a headset too.
This move will give VR a further push and we won’t be surprised to see similar promotional offering from McDonald’s and others in the coming months.
