The successor to the S Band was revealed in full glory by SamMobile , through what look like sales promotion slides that showed the wearable’s features, design and functions. Samsung’s first-gen S Band, announced as an accessory for last year’s Galaxy S4, didn’t materialise, but the company is back with another attempt and this time around for the latest flagship.

The successor to the S Band was revealed in full glory by SamMobile , through what look like sales promotion slides that showed the wearable’s features, design and functions. First of all it looks similar to the Gear Fit in terms of fit and finish, which is good thing considering Samsung’s fitness tracking wrist band won many applauds at MWC.

The new S Band is a fitness tracker without a proper display, which means it won’t be a full-fledged companion like the Gear watches and the Gear Fit. Instead, all the information will be shown inside a smartphone app called Activity Tracker and of course, the new S Health app.

It will display steps taken and calories burned, and also has a sleep monitoring feature. We don’t know yet how much data the tracker will collect during your sleep. The wristband also has a tiny LED to indicate missed calls or messages and there’s a vibrator too which can act as an alarm or to beep you when your phone is out of range.

Like the new Gear series, the new S Band will have interchangeable straps (white, yellow, orange and grey colour options are seen in the slides) Of course, important details like release date and pricing are still unknown, but it’s likely that the S Band will be priced below the Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit. But it does look like Samsung is readying an arsenal of wearables to take on the competition when the race finally heats up.
