Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is pretty determined to revive the fortunes of Yahoo. Today in an official company blogpost, she announced that Yahoo Mail was getting a serious upgrade with a cleaner look. The best part is that this new look will be available on the three major mobile platforms: iOS, Android and Windows 8.
The blogpost reads:
Email is the ultimate daily habit. It's often the first thing we check in the morning and the last thing before going to bed. Why? Because it's one of the simplest and most basic forms of communication. And since it's such an important part of our daily lives, we're making a few improvements to Yahoo! Mail.
You've told us loud and clear that you want fewer distractions when it comes to email. You want to quickly login, communicate, and get on with your day. And we've listened. Starting today, the new Yahoo! Mail is fast, easy and available anywhere you go. These improvements will be available on all major platforms: Web, Windows 8, iPhone/iPod touch and Android.
It seems that for the desktop user, the changes will be rolled out in a couple of days, while Android users of the Yahoo Mail should get an update today itself.
What needs to be noted is that Mayer intends to make Yahoo's products much more interactive, on PCs and on mobile devices. As this report point out her well-known focus on user design is expected to result in a simpler, less-cluttered email and home page and this exactly what we're seeing the case Yahoo Mail.
