Manhunt 2 Banned in UK, Receives AO Rating

As expected, Rockstar’s upcoming Manhunt 2 is making news even before the game hits stands and this time we learn that the game is being banned in UK by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) which means that the game will not be legally sold in London for either the PS2 or the Wii.

Here’s what BBFC director David Cooke had to say, “Rejecting a work is a very serious action and one which we do not take lightly. Where possible we try to consider cuts or, in the case of games, modifications which remove the material which contravenes the Board’s published Guidelines. In the case of Manhunt 2 this has not been possible. Manhunt 2 is distinguishable from recent high-end video games by its unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone in an overall game context which constantly encourages visceral killing with exceptionally little alleviation or distancing. There is sustained and cumulative casual sadism in the way in which these killings are committed, and encouraged, in the game.”

In other news Mahunt 2 that’s slated to release on the 9th of July for the PS2 and the Wii has received an AO (Adult Only) rating by the ESRB, which may hamper sales but kudos to Rockstar for sticking to their guns and making this game as sick and violent as humanly possible.

Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now.
