In the run up to the launch of Jio 4G LTE services, we heard of Jio’s brand of smartphones called LYF. Today, the same smartphones have finally showed up in newspaper ads and have also been listed on the Reliance Digital website . For now the smartphones have only been listed online indicating that they will soon be launched in Reliance Digital stores; but what has been revealed with the same are their hardware specifications and more importantly, their prices have been listed.
Currently, only three handsets have been revealed in the newspaper ad and on the company’s retail website. These are the LYF Earth 1, LYF Water 1 and the LYF Water 2 smartphones that are priced between Rs 14,690 and Rs 23,990.
The LYF Earth 1 which recently saw an unboxing online is a part of the company’s premium smartphone range and packs in glass surfaces on both the front and back. Reliance Retail’s most expensive LYF smartphone packs in a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display that is powered by Qualcomm’s tried and tested Snapdragon 615 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM. There’s 32GB of internal storage and this can be further expanded thanks to the presence of a memory card slot.
Also tucked in on the back is a combination of 13MP and 2MP cameras that work with PureCel technology to deliver features such as Re-Focus, Fast Focus, Foregrounder and Optizoom. The camera on the front is a 5MP unit. Of course there’s 4G bands with support for VoLTE, VoWiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0 on the communications front. Powering all of the above is a 3500mAh battery with Android 5.1 Lollipop in charge.
The next phone to be revealed is the LYF Water 1 priced at Rs 14,999. The website listing reveals that the smartphone will be available in both white and black colours. The LYF Water 1 comes with a hardware configuration that is similar to the Earth 1, but skips on the dual sensor camera. On the front, we have a smaller 5-inch, Full HD display. Inside, there is a the same Snapdragon 615 chipset, but with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The internal storage can be expanded via a memory card slot. On the camera front we get a 13MP primary camera and 5MP front-facing one. The smartphone also packs in an FM radio and is powered by a 2600mAh battery with Android 5.1 Lollipop running the show.
Lastly, we have the most affordable option that was revealed called the LYF Water 2. The LYF Water 2 is somewhat of a budget offering and is priced similarly at Rs 14,690. But the smartphone certainly does not fall short of power as the specifications have revealed. The device also has a 5-inch HD display (1280 x 720 pixels) and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 again paired with 2GB of RAM.
There is a 13MP camera on the back and 5MP selfie snapper on the front. And you get plenty of connectivity options as well, with dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE bands, VoLTE, VoWiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0. Again, powering all of the above is Android 5.1 Lollipop on the software front with a 2400mAh battery fuelling the experience.
So far no details have been revealed about the above mentioned smartphone’s availability. More importantly, there are other models as well, that have yet to revealed like the Wind and the Flame series.
