Nokia recently announced that the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 will reach operators and retail outlets in select countries this week. Both phones will reach stores in France and the UK this week, then Russia and Germany, and further select markets including India through the rest of November.
“After seeing the enthusiastic response to the incredible innovation in the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, we’re eager for people to start experiencing the phones for themselves,” said Jo Harlow, executive vice president, Nokia Smart Devices. “We are focusing our efforts on working with partners who recognize the value of that innovation, and who are committed to helping Lumia and the Windows Phone platform break through in key markets around the world.”
The Lumia 920 to reach India by November
The Nokia Lumia 920 includes the latest Nokia PureView camera, which the company claims captures five times more light than competitor smartphones. It gives bright pictures without flash, even indoors, and at night. It also features built-in wireless charging, making it easy to keep the battery topped up throughout the day, as well as a better-than-HD display.
The Nokia Lumia 820, Nokia Lumia 810, and Nokia Lumia 822 offer exchangeable covers in a range of colours. Both phones have the option to add wireless charging, have a sensitive touchscreen, and Nokia ClearBlack display technology. All phones come with the full suite of Nokia navigation applications, including Nokia City Lens, and Nokia Music that streams unlimited music directly to the phone.
Nokia took the wraps off its Lumia 920 at the Nokia World 2012 event in New York City. The Nokia Lumia 920 will pack in a Snapdragon S4 and a PureView sensor. It also comes with the Blink app, which is the smartphone's Burst mode. The smartphone will feature an LCD display, which is a little higher than the HD displays available now. With a polycarbonate body the phone will be available in many colours.
City Lens, an augmented reality app exclusive for the Lumia 920, gives information about restaurants and stores on the phone, while looking at the world through the camera.
The new 'lenses' feature in the camera enables you to edit a photo as you are taking it. Photosynth lens allows 360 degree panorama photos. Nokia states that the PureView captures between five and 10 times the light captured by other smartphone cameras, and the floating lens technology is for night shots to balance the lens and stabilise it for images and video.
