The clock is ticking, Apple’s September Keynote is now mere minutes away. At 10:30 PM tonight, Tim Cook will take to the stage at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco and announce Apple’s latest iPhones, and maybe a sequel to the Apple Watch. Apple’s keynotes always puts the world on edge because for better or worse, Apple holds the power to steer the technology world as they see fit. Mere rumours send companies into a tizzy. We’ve already seen the likes of LeEco and Motorola ditch the 3.5mm jack in favour of USB Type-C, Huawei and LG have already come out with their own take on the dual-camera setup and “rose gold” phones pop up left and right with gay abandon. At the same time, this flood of leaks and rumours may have revealed just about everything there is to know about the upcoming iPhones. We already think we know the models available, their prices and even their features. **Apple themselves revealed** at least two models of the iPhone on their site, a Vietnamese blogger claims to be using a 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and leaked screenshots from an “official” Apple video suggest that a dual-camera iPhone 7 Plus model is just moments away. Someone even managed to rip apart the Apple Watch 2 and detail the technology that makes it up. Are there really no surprises left ? The next hour will reveal all. Device launches notwithstanding, we’re really curious to see what Apple has in Store for India specifically. Tim Cook’s recent visit to India and his one-on-one with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular have us all excited. There are also rumblings that Apple is looking to manufacture iPhones in India .
Liveblog: Apple iPhone 7 and Apple Watch series 2 announcement
The clock is ticking, Apple’s September Keynote is now mere minutes away. At 10:30 PM tonight, Tim Cook will take to the stage at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco and announce Apple’s latest iPhones, and maybe a sequel to the Apple Watch.
Crying rainbow tears. I can’t think of a better way to end this liveblog. A succinct summation of my feelings.
The AirPods will arrive in October and will retail for $159 (around Rs 10,600)
…and all the features on the iPhone 7 Plus
Here’s everything you’re getting on the iPhone 7
Here’s the entire iPhone lineup. Note the increased storage capacity on the 6S and the 6S Plus
Expect 2hrs more battery life vs and iPhone 6S and 1 hr more battery life compared to the 6S Plus on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus respectively.
iPhone 7 price: 649 USD and comes in silver, gold, rose gold, black and jet black and starts from 32GB 128GB and 256 GB
iPhone 7 Plus: 769 USD and comes in silver, gold, rose gold, black and jet black and starts from 32GB 128GB and 256 GB
iPhone 6S and 6S Plus get 32GB and 128 GB versions
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus start 9 September and shipping 16 September (does not include India)
Apple finally packs in a quad-core chip into the iPhone. Android’s already crossed the 10-core mark. There are apparently 2, high-performance cores that run 40 percent faster than those on the A9, and 2 high efficiency cores to save battery life. Prioritisation is done via Apple’s own controller.
Also included is a 6-core GPU that’s claimed to be 50 percent faster than that on the iPhone 6S.
It’s not just an A10, it’s an A10 Fusion chip. Apple’s going to get a letter from AMD very soon.
A “technical tour de force?” More like “tour de farce.”
To be fair to Apple, these will probably deliver exactly what was promised, though I doubt the audio is as “amazing” as Apple expects you to believe. They might even be the best wireless headphones ever made for light listening.
Why did you kill the headphone jack, Apple? Why?
…and here are the much-awaited AirPods. They’re completely wireless, which is nice. They also offer 5 hours of battery life.
At least they’re bundling an adapter with the new iPhones
My worst fears have come true. R.I.P. 3.5mm headphone jack. Damn you, Apple!
As expected, the iPhone 7’s retina display now supports the P3 colour gamut. I’m already sold.
Is Apple really trying to convince us that an iPhone gives better depth-of-field than an SLR? That’s like trying to convince us that the iPad is better for work than a PC
Interesting. The dual-camera setup is literally two cameras. Two individual sensors with individual lenses. One is a wide angle, the other is a telephoto lens.
The front camera also gets a massive spec bump. It’s almost as good as the rear camera on earlier iPhones
The smaller iPhone 7 uses a single camera setup, but at least it comes with OIS. Note the 4-LED flash.
Apple has also added the ability to shoot through flicker
Apple’s Taptic engine and Force Touch Home button will work hand-in-hand to improve user experience
