LinkedIn's latest Lookup app will make it easier to connect with co-workers

LinkedIn has launched a new standalone iOS app named  LinkedIn Lookup which aims to help users know their co-workers better, either who work in the same organisation or users with a specific set of responsibilities and skills. The company made the announcement on its blog and stated that the new app will makes professionals more productive and successful by helping them easily find, learn about, and contact their coworkers. It added, “We discovered in April that about 30 percent of members who search for people on LinkedIn each month view their coworkers’ profiles. We wanted to find out why, so later that month we surveyed 814 professionals in North America about how they use their companies’ intranets.” Using this app, users can look for someone with a specific skill set or job responsibility or can simply meet someone new at work. This option is a much easier way to the perfect tool for connecting with coworkers who might otherwise be hard to find.  In conversation with Business Insider, LinkedIn’s senior product manager Ankit Gupta said, “The goal for this app is to find, learn about, and contact your coworkers. It’s the fastest and easiest way to do that. There’s a huge demand for learning about coworkers and that’s what we’re trying to solve here.” In the past, LinkedIn has also launched many apps such as Job Search, Connected, Recruiter and Sales Navigator. According to a previous **report** , LinkedIn said it had crossed the 30 million-user mark in India, its largest market outside the US. Globally, LinkedIn has over 364 million members. In February last year, the company had more than 24 million users in India and over 277 million members globally.
