LinkedIn, the social network for professionals, today announced an upgraded version of its mobile applications. The upgraded LinkedIn mobile application is now available on all operating systems, namely - iOS, Android and Symbian. According to LinkedIn, its mobile application aims to provide simple and dynamic solutions to professionals, helping them to be more productive and successful.

With this upgrade, the mobile applications will have enhanced features like Jobs, Jobs You May be Interested In (JYMBII), Notifications and Company Pages. These new features will arm LinkedIn members with important professional intelligence on the go.
LinkedIn further notes that mobile is the fastest-growing consumer service on its network, with 23 percent of members now visiting LinkedIn on mobile apps, which is up 10 percent compared to the previous year. And with mobile products available for iPhone, Android and Mobile Web, it is uniquely positioned to deliver important business intelligence to help mobile professionals be great at what they do, adds LinkedIn in its official statement.
“Being the fastest-growing consumer service on LinkedIn, mobile is an extremely important part of our offerings for professionals. Keeping in mind that today’s workforce is constantly on the move, enhancing our mobile platform is a conscious step towards making our members more productive and successful. Our team of world class engineers is focused on developing tools that our members see value in,” said Mr. Hari V. Krishnan, Country Manager LinkedIn India.
In addition to this, LinkedIn also announced the launch of the iPad application in several international languages, viz. French, German, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Korean.

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network with more than 175 million members worldwide and over 16 million in India. LinkedIn was in the news recently when it announced that users would no longer be able to sync tweets to their profiles as a result of some policy changes by popular microblogging platform Twitter. The announcement came soon after Twitter announced a slew of stricter guidelines on its own blog.
LinkedIn stated that in line with Twitter’s change in policy, “tweets will no longer be displayed on LinkedIn starting later today." However, the company said that users would still be able to share updates on Twitter by posting them on LinkedIn by checking a box when they post their updates. LinkedIn assured that there would be “no other changes to your LinkedIn experience”. LinkedIn has allowed users to show a Twitter feed on their LinkedIn profiles since 2009.
In April this year, LinkedIn was made available on the iPad. Reports at the time claimed that the iPad application looked different from LinkedIn’s web service. LinkedIn completely redesigned itself for the iPad and has become more of a social news gatherer, designed along the lines of Flipboard for the iPad. The LinkedIn iPad app includes some new features which take advantage of the tablet platform that it’s on.
