LinkedIn launches new profile design

LinkedIn, the social networking platform for professionals, has redesigned the profile page. In an official blog post yesterday, LinkedIn’s Aaron Bronzan announced the launch of the new LinkedIn profile. He wrote, “We’re excited to share that we’ve just launched the next generation LinkedIn Profile, making it easier for our 175 million members to tell their professional stories, be found for opportunities, and build relationships through meaningful interactions. Over the next few months, all LinkedIn members will start to see their profiles in the new look and feel”.

Bronzan shares that the renewed LinkedIn profile pages will embody a new visual design that will help users to present their skills and accomplishments in a refreshed way, so that they can have a powerful first impression and showcase their skills and accomplishments. LinkedIn has also included new tools such as inline editing. This way, Bronzan adds that users will be able to have a complete, up-to-date profile.

LinkedIn shares that the new profile will be a window for the user to “rich and visual insights” on their connections, comprising people and companies. Using these insights, users should find it easier to know people outside their network better and attain a common ground for more meaningful connections.

With the new profile up and running, LinkedIn users should find it easier to see what’s happening in their network, while also engaging with it. Among a few changes, LinkedIn has moved Recent Activity to the top of the profile to enable users stay abreast with what’s current with their network’s activities.

Early this month, LinkedIn introduced more expert advice to its website, helping users find their pearls of wisdom. “The online professional networking service hopes the proffered tips and advice will help it extend its clout beyond the help-wanted market,” said reports.

It was expected that the new feature would encourage LinkedIn’s 175 million members “to sign up to follow the musings of “influencers” - a 150-person panel that includes President Barack Obama, business moguls, Internet bloggers, self-help gurus and entrepreneurs”.

LinkedIn’s Angela Yang recently announced the introduction of a new feature to the social network for professionals – Notifications. As the name suggests, LinkedIn’s new notification feature keeps users notified in real-time, each time their contacts like the content they share on LinkedIn, view their profile, accept their invitation, etc.

Yang demonstrates that users should be able to spot a notification flag at the top of their homepage and a new Inbox envelope icon. Every time there is something new, such as comments, likes or shares, an accepted connection request, new inMails, among other things, a red circle will appear. She goes on to add, “This new feature is all part of our ongoing effort to make it easier to keep engaging discussions going with your network”.
