Update: The LinkedIn app will be available at the Nokia store sometime next week.
LinkedIn has introduced its app for Nokia Asha phones. Users can access their LinkedIn network and professional insights from any Nokia Asha Full Touch and 501 series of devices. The Asha 501 is Nokia’s budget phone, announced earlier in May for a price at Rs 5,300.
The obvious question is why an app for budget phone rather than a high-end smartphone. Nishant Rao, Country Manager, LinkedIn India tells tech2, “This is about broadening our reach and availability for every national member out there. It is a part of our mission is to make sure that our professionals everywhere are more productive and successful. It is a natural broadening of our portfolio to make sure that professionals irrespective to their economic funds or location are able to enjoy the richness of LinkedIn for better productivity.”
LinkedIn app launched for Nokia’s budget Asha series
While Nishant didn’t divulge the most recent LinkedIn India figures, the professional social site is known to have crossed the 20 million mark in India earlier in May. The LinkedIn app lets users tap into a personalized stream of industry news and updates from their professional community. Users can access Influencer posts from top business minds and get real-time insights. Instead of getting into a blind meeting, you can get to know who you are meeting by checking out their LinkedIn profile and see who you know in common. It also comes with the People You May Know feature to ensure you’re building a network of trusted connections.
The LinkedIn app for Asha phones is available in six languages including English, Brazilian Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesia, Spanish, Bahasa Malaysia, and Russian. Nokia Asha users can download the app from the Nokia store.
