Line now has over 300 million users globally

Line, the cross-platform messaging app has announced that it currently has over 300 million users worldwide. The app made its debut last year in June, and was announced in India earlier in July. Line already has a strong foothold in East Asia, and the user base is showing steady rise in Hispanic regions such as Spain and Mexico, the company revealed in a statement.

The company is now focusing on attracting more users in India, Turkey, France, Germany, Italy as well as other markets. It is also conducting localised promotional activities and strengthening partnerships with local mobile network operators and device manufacturers. In India, Line achieved 5 million downloads within three weeks from its launch. In October, the company revealed that it had reached a user base of 10 million and also roped in Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif as the official brand ambassador. It also added some new features like video calling and Snap Movie.
