Most of us may not remember LG’s **Optimus VU lineup** because it didn’t really manage to attract users. Now, prolific tipster @Evleaks reveals that the company plans to replace the not-so popular VU lineup with a new device series that will be known as the G Stylus. Going by the Evleaks track record about disclosing information about unannounced smartphones, there is a pretty good chance that this piece of news is true.

LG working on G Stylus series to compete with Samsung Galaxy Note?

Most of us may not remember LG’s **Optimus VU lineup** because it didn’t really manage to attract users.   Now, prolific tipster @Evleaks reveals that the company plans to replace the not-so popular VU lineup with a new device series that will be known as the G Stylus. Going by the Evleaks track record about disclosing information about unannounced smartphones, there is a pretty good chance that this piece of news is true.   However, apart from the name of the new series - G Stylus - not much else is known. However, considering the word stylus, it is quite likely that the company maybe planning a device to take on arch-rival Samsung’s popular Note series. The tweet simply reads, “Goodbye, LG Vu. Hello, LG G Stylus.”    The 5-inch Optimus VU was announced to compete with the Note series then, but its squarish design and 4:3 ratio didn’t really take off.  It was earlier planned for the Korean market, but LG soon introduced the device in other markets including India. In an official statement, LG had said that on the heels of ‘its successful debut in Korea and Japan, the Optimus Vu will make its appearance global starting from select markets in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America’. It was soon followed by the LG VU 2 and VU3.   Though LG claimed that the original VU was a hit in select markets, it didn’t really present a challenge to the Galaxy Note lineup.  Now, let’s wait and watch if the new G Stylus is capable of bringing some competition to the powerful Note series. The upcoming Note is already rumoured to feature 2K display, **Aqua Capture and multi network booster** .   The last VU device was launched at the IFA last year, so it is highly speculated that the new LG G Stylus will make its debut at the IFA later in September.
