After Samsung, LG has announced that it will also unveil a flexible display screen for smartphones. The company had previously made the announcement during its conference call for annual results. The new screens will be showcased at Society for Information Display’s (SID) Display Week 2013 in Vancouver, Canada.
The company plans to showcase a a curved 55-inch OLED TV and a 5-inch plastic OLED panel. LG has said that the 5-inch OLED screen panel will be unbreakable and flexible.
In addition to the flexible panel, LG Display will also showcase the 5-inch and 7-inch HD LCD panels based on Oxide Thin Film Transistor (TFT) technology for smartphones and mobile device.

The 5-inch HD panel will feature 1.0 mm bezel (rim) allowing production of borderless smartphones that are lightweight and emit significantly less heat. The 7-inch HD LCD panel is equipped with touch function-embedded technology enabling touch functionality in thin and lightweight mobile products.
The company will be using plastic as the base for these panels, which will make them almost unbreakable and flexible.
