LG has announced the launch of HDR streaming on 2015 LG OLED 4K TVs, bringing HDR picture quality streaming directly via the Amazon Video app, available on LG’s webOS Smart TV platform. Amazon Video claims to be the first to deliver HDR titles on LG OLED 4K TVs. Currently, Amazon Original Series Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle as well as the pilot episode of the upcoming comedy series Red Oaks are available to stream on LG’s latest TVs including EF9500 Flat OLED and EG9600 Curved OLED 4K TV series. “LG is committed to delivering the best viewing experience, and it doesn’t get any better than HDR content on an OLED 4K display,” said Tim Alessi, head of new product development, LG Electronics USA. “Amazon has played an invaluable role in helping LG bring consumers the best way to enjoy streaming content and an incredible HDR experience.” The EF9500 series features built-in full HDR capability and allows to play back HDR content from both streaming content partners as well as external source devices. LG’s EG9600 series also received a firmware update so users can stream content from current and future providers, claims the company. LG OLED technology promises to be best suited for HDR content by delivering the perfect black that only OLED TVs can achieve. The webOS Smart TV platform has been designed to make finding and switching between content options such as broadcast TV, streaming services and external devices faster. LG’s 2015 OLED 4K TVs come with built-in speaker systems designed by Harman/Kardon. LG HDR capable OLED TVs are available in 55- and 65-inch sizes. They are available in curved and flat configurations starting at $5,499 and $5,499, respectively.
