LG hasn’t been in action in the tablet space for the past two years, as its last offering, the Optimus Pad, was launched in 2011. After the successful launch of the G2 , the company probably has new tablets in the pipeline. Techkiddy has spotted two variants of the LG tablet in Bluetooth SIG filing. The devices are code-named LG-V500 and LG-V507L, and earlier we have seen a similar name for the Optimus Pad. Moreover, the filing mentions mobile “device”, and not mobile “phone”.

LG tablet in the works…
The V500 is speculated to be a Wi-Fi-only variant, while the V507L could be the 4G LTE-based device. The leaked document also hints at a Qualcomm mobile chipset. It is further speculated to either come armed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor or new Snapdragon 600.
LG recently dropped the “Optimus” label and is now in favour of the “G” branding. So, the new tablet could be a part of the new “G” series, and probably called the G Pad, G Slate or likewise. Lately, we’ve seen the company successfully launch its flagship phone G2, and the tablet could also be a mid/high-end version and borrow a handful of features from the G2. Though the smartphone has some interesting design aspects, its USP is likely to be the software. It brings in some cool features such as “KnockOn”, which turns the display on/off with a double tap. Some more software additions include Guest Mode and Text Link. We wonder if the rumoured LG tablet will rope in similar features.
Though there is no word on when the company plans to unveil the tablet, it is widely speculated to be at the IFA next month.
