Last week LG released a teaser for the G Pad 8.3, and now the company has officially announced the pocket-sized device even before IFA kicks off. Adding to the newly christened “G” series, the G Pad 8.3 is an 8-inch tablet with 1920 x 1200 WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) full HD screen. LG will officially showcase the device and mark its debut at the IFA shortly.
The G Pad 8.3 is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM. It also packs in a 4,600 mAh battery. Despite the large battery, the device is 8.33m thick and weighs 338 grams. It bundles up 16GB eMMC and will run on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 out of the box. On the camera front, it comes with a 5MP rear and 1.3MP front-facing cameras.

The key software highlight of the device is the QPair app that aims at improved connectivity between devices. The QPair app ensures that every call and message received on a smartphone will appear on the G Pad. It also lets users send simple replies through the LG G Pad 8.3. Moreover, it allows G Pad to easily connect with smartphones and tablets from other manufacturers. However, LG recommends the Jelly Bean operating system. One can create notes on G Pad’s QMemo to be saved on the user’s smartpohone or shared with other devices.
Then, there are features such as Slide Aside for seamless multitasking by simply “sliding” currently open apps off to the side using a three-finger swipe. QSlide controls up to three different apps in one window with no interruption and KnockON turns the device on and off by tapping the display twice.
The LG G Pad 8.3 will be made available in markets of North America, Europe and Asia among others starting in the fourth quarter of 2013. The price will be announced during the launch.
