LG launches Optimus G Pro 1080p phablet for Rs 42,500

LG has finally launched its flagship phone, the Optimus G Pro in the Indian market for Rs 42, 500. The Optimus G Pro is the successor to the Optimus G, which was launched in February this year. Check out our short hands-on video with the phone from earlier this year.

The 5.5 inch IPS screen has a 1080p resolution

Spec-wise, the Optimus G Pro is an impressive device with a 5.5-inch IPS screen that has a pixel density of around 401 pixels per inch and can play 1080p videos. It is powered by a 1.7Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and sports 2GB of RAM. Other impressive features include 32GB on-board memory and a micro-SD slot that allows for expansion up to 64GB. LG has pitched this phone to go head on against Samsung’s Galaxy Note range and with the current specifications the phone is no pushover. The G Pro supports 4G LTE but we aren’t sure if it will support the LTE band in India.

Both the cameras on the phone are capable of shooting 1080p full-HD videos at a frame rate of 30 fps (frames per second). The back-facing camera is a 13 MP shooter while the front-facing one is at 2.1 MP.

• 5.5-inch True HD-IPS + LCD with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution

• HSDPA, HSUPA, LTE

• Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot

• Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP

• GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS

• 13 megapixel camera on the back with LED flash and 2.1 megapixel front-facing cam

• 32GB of internal storage, further expandable up to 64GB

The phone is kept powered on by a beefy 3140 mAh battery, which would be necessary given the high-end specs. It also sports a removable back-cover which its immediate predecessor the Optimus G lacked.
