LG launches iPad mini competitor G Pad 8.3: All you need to know

The G Pad 8.3 was initially revealed ahead of the IFA 2013, will go on sale in South Korea for a price of 550,000 won ($510) from next week and will be introduced in some 30 countries by the end of this year.

LG launches iPad mini competitor G Pad 8.3: All you need to know

LG Electronics has launched its very own tablet, the G Pad 8.3, which the company is touting as a rival to the iPad mini. The G Pad 8.3 which was initially revealed ahead of the IFA 2013, will go on sale in South Korea for a price of 550,000 won ($510) from next week and will be introduced in some 30 countries by the end of this year.

The India launch should take place before the end of this year and the price will be revealed during the launch.

The key features of the G Pad are:

The 8.3-inch tablet is one of the first to offer a full-HD display on this screen size. The screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) display, is higher than Apple’s iPad mini which has a 1,024x768 screen resolution at 163 ppi.

The tablet is a quad-core device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Processor with 1.7GHz Quad-Core CPU. The tablet has 2 GB of RAM and will come with 16 GB storage space. It has a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front camera.

The battery is 4,600mAh and the tablet only supports Wi-Fi. There is no 3G version of this tablet yet. The tablet runs the Android 4.2.2 version of Jelly Bean.

LG has also introduced a QPair app which allows calls and message received on a smartphone to appear on the G Pad.

Users can also send replies via the G Pad 8.3. QPair connects with smartphones and tablets from other manufacturers as well.
