LG Electronics has bet big on television sets and announced a 105-inch curved Ultra HD television (105UB9). To put that into perspective that's about 20 Samsung Galaxy Notes laid down end to end.Obviously, LG touts it as "the largest curved TV ever made."
Endgadget saysthe model will use the more economical LCD thanks to an upgrade in thin film transistor technology that allows for uniform backlighting across a curved surface.
The 21:9 aspect ratio which LG calls 'CinemaScope' and the5,120 x 2,160 UHD resolution (11 million pixels) means that viewing information can be can be pulled up on the side of the screen without cutting out the main image, according to The Verge
LG Display's Yong-kee Hwang said in a statement,"With a resolution of 11 million pixels, the 105-inch curved LCD panel is proof of our continued leadership in the next generation display market, offering exceptional world-class value to our customers."
Samsung will also be launching a similar sized curved model next month.
While the sheer size of the television model has generated plenty of digital buzz, all eyes will be on the official launch in Las Vegas when the price will be revealed.
