LG Gram series of laptops pre-announced ahead of CES 2018

Earlier today, Samsung announced the features of its upcoming Notebook 9 series of laptops. It's Korean competitor LG has decided to follow suit and has gone ahead and pre-announced its CES showcase product as well — the LG Gram laptop series update.

The LG Gram series which was originally announced in 2014 will see a new upgrade at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas early next month.

According to a GSMArena report, the Gram series in the 2018 upgrade, will come with a 72 Wh battery which could deliver 19-22.5 hours of usage depending on the screen size. The LG Gram (2018) series laptops will be powered by Intel 8th gen Core i5 and Core i7 processors. This will be paired with SSD storage drives with an option for a secondary SSD slot as well. Thanks to this, the boot times will be quick.

The LG Gram (2018) will come in three display sizes, namely 13.3-inch, 14-inch and 15.6-inch and they will weigh in around 965 g, 995 g and 1095 g. It features a display which has extremely thin bezels which lets larger display sized to be accommodated into more compact form factors. Some of the models will have touchscreen support as well.

According to the report, the new Gram (2018) laptops will be made from nano carbon magnesium full metal alloy and will also be compliant with the MIL-STD-810G military standards. This should make the laptops resistant to impact, pressure and temperature.

"We’re very proud to introduce the new Gram PCs, which have been designed in direct response to those wishing to get an all-round, high-performance laptop with maximum portability,” said Chang Ik-hwan, head of LG’s IT business division.

The LG Gram (2018) laptops will be available for sale in the US from January 2018 onwards. Other markets will eventually get it at a later time.
